Role Overview
We’re seeking a Director of Field Operations to play a crucial role in the success of our franchisees. This position will be on the road 75% of the time, providing onsite support, training, and coaching to franchise owners around the country. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in residential/commercial turf installation/operations and is passionate about helping business owners thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Franchise Support & Onboarding
- Travel to franchise locations to provide hands-on training during business launch.
- Ensure franchisees understand Waterloo Turf’s best practices for installation, operations, and customer service.
- Onsite Training & Coaching
- Conduct training sessions covering installation techniques, materials, and equipment usage.
- Offer real-time coaching to help franchisees streamline their operations.
- Assist in problem-solving for installation challenges, customer concerns, or efficiency improvements.
- Operational Excellence & Quality Control
- Monitor and uphold installation quality standards across all locations (Site Audits).
- Identify areas for operational improvement and implement best practices.
- Provide detailed feedback and solutions to franchise owners and corporate to improve workflow, labor efficiency, and profitability.
- Business Development & Growth
- Act as a mentor for franchisees, helping them scale their business.
- Share insights on profitability, pricing strategies, and team management.
- Stay updated on industry trends and bring innovation to our franchise network.
What We’re Looking For
✔ Extensive experience in turf installation – you’ve been in the field, and you know what it takes to get the job done right.
✔ Crew & Project Management Experience - you’ve overseen/organized/scheduled crews as a project manager.
✔ Hands-on leadership – you enjoy coaching, training, and rolling up your sleeves to help people succeed.
✔ Strong communication & problem-solving skills – ability to explain complex processes in a simple, actionable way.
✔ Willingness to travel extensively (75%) – being onsite is critical to this role.
✔ Proficiency in operational systems – experience with CRM tools, invoicing/scheduling software.
